The Indian Chef is responsible for preparing authentic Indian dishes, maintaining food quality, hygiene standards, and ensuring timely service. The role includes menu planning, food preparation, kitchen supervision, and maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes (North Indian, South Indian, Tandoor, Curry, etc.)
- Ensure food is prepared as per standard recipes and quality guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen as per food safety standards
- Plan daily menus in coordination with the Head Chef
- Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory control
- Ensure proper storage of raw materials and food items
- Supervise and guide kitchen helpers and commis chefs
- Maintain consistency in taste, portion, and presentation
- Reduce food wastage and control kitchen costs
- Follow all safety and sanitation regulations
Skills & Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Indian Chef or similar role
- Strong knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques, and traditional recipes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (FSSAI guidelines preferred)
- Team player with good communication skills
Qualifications:
- Diploma / Certificate in Culinary Arts (preferred)
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in Indian cuisine
- Experience in hotel, restaurant, or catering industry preferred
