Data Analytics Engineer (Contract)
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Analytics Engineer (IC) with 5+ years of experience to lead the migration and optimization of our data infrastructure. You will be responsible for transforming raw data into high-performance models within a regulated financial services environment, ensuring our Finance and Lending teams have reliable, self-service access to critical insights.
Key Responsibilities
- dbt Migration: Own the end-to-end migration of existing data models into dbt, ensuring they are production-ready, tested, and well-documented.
- Architecture: Design and maintain a scalable data layer in BigQuery for Finance and Engineering stakeholders.
- Strategic Partnering: Work closely with Finance and Lending Ops to translate business requirements into reusable data assets.
- Self-Service Tools: Build dashboards and reporting tools that empower non-technical users to answer their own data questions.
- Automation: Write Python scripts to support data pipelines and use AI-assisted development to accelerate high-quality delivery.
- Standards: Define and enforce data modeling standards and schemas within the Lending domain.
What You Bring
- Experience: 5+ years as an Analytics Engineer or Data Engineer.
- Technical Mastery: Strong dbt skills (model design, refactoring, and documentation) and hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.
- Coding: Proficiency in Python for data transformation and automation.
- Engineering Principles: Solid understanding of version control, code review, testing, and CI/CD.
- Agile Mindset: Ability to work in short cycles, prioritize ruthlessly, and adapt to a high pace of change.
- Domain Knowledge: Comfortable working in regulated financial services with an understanding of data governance.
