Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Operation Theatre (OT) Staff Nurse to assist in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care. The role involves supporting surgeons, anesthetists, and the OT team to ensure safe and efficient surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preoperative Care: Receive and prepare patients for surgery.Verify patient identity, consent forms, and pre-op checklists.Prepare OT instruments, equipment, and consumables as per procedure requirements.Maintain aseptic techniques throughout.
2. Intraoperative Assistance: Assist surgeons during surgeries (scrub & circulating duties).Handle instruments, sutures, and surgical materials.Monitor patient vitals and coordinate with anesthetists. Ensure proper specimen handling and labelling.
3. Postoperative Care: Transfer patients safely to PACU. Provide immediate postoperative nursing care.Handover to PACU/ward teams with clear documentation.
4. OT Management & Safety: Maintain sterility and infection control standards.Ensure proper sterilization and instrument tray preparation.Check and maintain OT equipment functionality.Follow NABH / JCI guidelines related to OT protocols.
5. Documentation: Maintain records of procedures, instruments, implants, and consumables used.Update nursing notes, safety checklists, surgical counts, and patient care documentation.Ensure complete adherence to hospital documentation standards.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of OT procedures and surgical instruments
- Excellent sterile technique and infection control practices
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure and during emergency surgeries
- Experience handling general, ortho, neuro, and laparoscopic cases (as applicable)
Eligibility Criteria Education: B.Sc Nursing / GNM
Experience: 1–5 years (OT experience required)
License: Valid nursing registration
