Job Description
The Director – Innovation is a senior leadership position responsible for supporting and advancing the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship agenda.
Reporting to and assisting the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the Director will play a key role in fostering a culture of innovation, driving technology transfer, and strengthening industry and startup engagement.
The role focuses on translating ideas and research into impactful solutions, ventures, and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Assist and report to the Pro Vice-Chancellor in developing and implementing the university’s innovation strategy
Identify emerging trends, technologies, and opportunities for innovation within the university
Facilitate collaboration between academia, industry, startups, and government bodies
Support intellectual property (IP) development, patenting, and commercialisation efforts
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and a culture of creativity across the university
Organise innovation programs, hackathons, and outreach initiatives
Mentor students, faculty, and innovators in developing scalable ideas and ventures Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 12 years of experience in innovation, entrepreneurship, or strategic leadership roles
Strong track record in building innovation programs, startups, or industry collaborations
