Key Responsibilities
- Client Consultation: Meet clients to learn their style choices, goals, needs, and project budget.
- Space Planning: Draw floor plans and layout designs that show how people will move through the room.
- Design Creation: Make initial sketches, digital 3D models, and mood boards with color themes, lighting, and materials.
- Budget and Sourcing: Estimate project costs, pick materials, and order furniture, fixtures, and finishes.
- Project Management: Hire and coordinate builders, contractors, and vendors to ensure work finishes on time and within budget.
- Site Visits: Inspect the job site regularly during construction and review the final space with the client. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Common Requirements
- Education: A bachelor's degree in interior design or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of design software like AutoCAD or SketchUp.
- Soft Skills: Creative vision, fine attention to detail, and great communication.
- Experience: A portfolio showing past design work and completed projects.
