Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer to oversee and manage civil construction, maintenance, and infrastructure development activities within the shipyard. The candidate will be responsible for planning, supervising, and ensuring quality execution of civil works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage civil construction activities within the shipyard premises.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, and construction plans.
- Monitor construction of buildings, workshops, dry docks, slipways, foundations, drainage systems, roads, and other infrastructure facilities.
- Ensure proper execution of RCC, structural, masonry, plastering, flooring, waterproofing, and finishing works.
- Conduct site inspections and ensure work quality as per approved standards.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, project engineers, and internal departments.
- Prepare project schedules and monitor progress against planned timelines.
- Estimate material quantities and manpower requirements.
- Verify contractor bills, measurements, and work completion reports.
- Ensure proper quality control of construction materials such as cement, concrete, reinforcement steel, aggregates, and other materials.
- Monitor concrete works including mix design, slump tests, cube tests, curing, and strength requirements.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Identify site issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Maintain daily progress reports, site records, and project documentation.
- Coordinate civil maintenance and repair works across the shipyard facility.
- Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering
- Diploma in Civil Engineering may be considered for suitable experienced candidates.
- Experience in industrial construction, infrastructure projects, shipyards, ports, marine facilities, or heavy engineering projects is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of RCC and structural works
- Knowledge of concrete technology and construction materials
- Ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings
- Knowledge of BOQ, estimation, and quantity surveying
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and MS Office
- Knowledge of quality control and site inspection procedures
- Understanding of construction safety standards
- Good communication and team coordination skills
- Ability to manage contractors and site workforce
Preferred Experience
Experience: 3–8 years
Candidates with experience in Shipyards, Marine Infrastructure, Ports, Industrial Construction, Heavy Engineering, or Large Construction Projects will be preferred.
