We are a science news website seeking a talented, detail-oriented Remote US English Copyeditor to join our team for a long-term, part-time collaboration. If you have a passion for accurate, engaging scientific communication and exceptional editing skills, we want to hear from you.
This is a remote, long-term freelance position requiring 4 hours of work per day, Monday through Friday.
Shift Hours:
- Summer Time (approx. Apr–Oct): 14:30 to 18:30 IST (Indian Standard Time)
- Winter Time (approx. Oct–Apr): 15:30 to 19:30 IST (Indian Standard Time)
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality proofreading, copyediting, and formatting for web content.
- Ensure all published materials adhere strictly to company standards and American English guidelines.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to uphold our high standards of excellence.
- Format and upload edited articles directly within the site CMS.
Requirements:
- Flawless American English writing, grammar, and style skills.
- 3+ years of professional editing/proofreading experience (experience with US clients is highly preferred).
- Strong command of AP Style.
- Experience in science research, science journalism, or science publishing is highly valued.
- Tech-savvy, with the ability to work independently within a CMS.
- Excellent time management and strict adherence to deadlines.
Required Infrastructure (Home Office):
- A dedicated, quiet remote workplace.
- A high-speed, reliable internet connection with a power backup system (UPS/Inverter) to avoid connectivity issues.
- A fast laptop/PC with a large external monitor for detailed editing.
- Webcam, reliable keyboard, and mouse.
Compensation:
- 1,000 Indian Rupee per hour (Paid monthly via Wise).
