About the Role
FoxScan builds practical, cost-effective diagnostic instruments thermal cameras, moisture meters, borescopes, rebound hammers and similar tools for real-world inspection and measurement. As Robotics Intern, you'll work the full development cycle: component selection, CAD design, sourcing, assembly, testing, and hardware-software integration. This is a hands-on build-and-iterate role, not a purely theoretical or software-only one.
What You'll Do
- Component selection: Compare sensors and modules on datasheets, cost, availability and SDK support to select components.
- CAD & product design: Design parts, assemblies and enclosures in Fusion 360, SolidWorks or equivalent.
- Manufacturability: Account for clearances, tolerances, cable routing and print orientation.
- Procurement: Source from Indian and international suppliers; compare vendors, landed cost and lead times.
- Hands-on assembly: Build prototypes PCBs, sensors, batteries, wiring, basic soldering.
- Testing: Diagnose fitment, wiring and component issues methodically.
- Hardware-software integration: Connect sensors to Arduino, ESP32 or Raspberry Pi and coordinate with firmware/software teams.
What You'll Need
- Background in Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Robotics or related field.
- Hands-on experience via projects, internships, maker work or personal builds.
- Working knowledge of a CAD platform (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, CATIA, Solid Edge, etc.).
- Ability to select components on technical merit, not just price or brand.
- Basic electronics knowledge, including safe battery/power handling.
- A problem-solving mindset and willingness to iterate.
Nice to Have
- Enclosure or multi-part assembly design experience.
- 3D printing, CNC or other fabrication experience.
- Sourcing experience (Robu.in, Robocraze, LCSC, AliExpress, local markets).
- Experience with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi or similar boards.
- A CAD portfolio, GitHub, or other evidence of things you've actually built.
Before You Apply
Be ready to share 2 to 3 CAD files, project links, or other evidence of something you've built or designed. Candidates with demonstrable hands-on work are preferred over those who only list tools on a resume.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month

- Do you currently have access to a 3D printer, or have you regularly operated one? If yes, what sliced settings (e.g., infill percentage, support types, wall count) do you typically adjust to ensure a functional part doesn't snap under mechanical load ?
- Imagine you are designing a snap-fit enclosure for a thermal camera. If your 3D printer has an average dimensional inaccuracy of ±0.2mm, what exact clearance tolerance would you model into your CAD software to ensure the parts fit perfectly without being too loose or requiring heavy sanding ?
- Tell us about a time a project failed or got stuck because you didn't account for wire/cable routing, battery placement, or safe clearances. How did you redesign the enclosure to fix it ?
- You've wired an ESP32 to a new sensor module via I2C, but your micro-controller isn't receiving any data. Walk us through your exact step-by-step diagnostic workflow using a multimeter or oscilloscope to locate the error ?
- We build portable, battery-powered diagnostics instruments. What safety precautions, electronic components (like BMS, protection ICs), or testing habits do you enforce when working directly with loose Li-ion or LiPo batteries to prevent short circuits ?
- When choosing between two moisture sensors one is generic/cheap with no clear documentation, and the other is twice the price but has an official C++ SDK/library and a comprehensive datasheet how do you evaluate which one to pitch to the engineering team ?
