Role Objectives
The Pricing Executive is responsible for leading procurement and pricing activities to ensure competitive rates, operational excellence, and profitability for the branch or region. This role focuses on supporting sales and RFQs, maintaining strong relationships with vendors and carriers, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), and driving a customer-centric approach to win and retain business. Additionally, the position contributes to meeting ocean freight budgets, maintaining rate sheets, and improving overall business yields.
Key Responsibilities
P&L;
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with local stakeholders and globally through our network offices to secure pricing opportunities.
- Develop pricing strategies by tracking competitor activities to maintain service profitability.
Vendors;
- Follow up with liners for status updates regarding vessel arrivals at port and the detention-free period.
- Coordinate with shipping lines for proper IGM filing, container nominations, and payment invoices.
- Ensure timely container movement/destuffing and payment of CFS charges through consistent follow-ups with CFS.
- Collaborate with approved transport vendors for cargo delivery and follow up for proof of delivery (POD).
- Conduct operational reviews with vendors and facilitate vendor reconciliations.
Network & Customer;
- Monitor and develop KPIs for quality, cost/profitability, win ratio, etc.
- Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs.
- Respond to operational and pricing requests from customers and carriers.
- Monitor client and carrier performance through yield management analysis.
Carrier Relationships;
- Oversee vendor selection according to organizational policies.
- Ensure that negotiations and selections of transporters, surveyors, and CFSs are conducted transparently.
- Negotiate the best possible rates from non-contractual carriers.
- Make every effort to secure space and committed delivery during peak seasons.
- Gather market rates from various shipping lines, forwarders, and known carriers.
- Monitor the performance of third-party service providers, such as CFS, transporters, outsourced customs house agents (CHA), and sub-agents.
- Ensure all vendor outstanding payments are monitored and settled within the credit period.
- Correspond with major carriers for spot ocean freight rates.
- Maintain good relationships with co-loaders, forwarders, and liners.
Pricing;
- Source rates from different lines for analysis and comparison.
- Negotiate and procure ocean export/import freight rates with master carriers for the Western Region.
- Implement monthly rate filings and quotations for outside vendors, including transporters, CFS, customs brokers, fumigation agencies, and other service providers.
- Agree upon and finalize the terms and conditions of contracts to ensure smooth invoicing from carriers.
- Procure monthly MRG and rate sheets for ocean products from master carriers and consolidators for prompt review.
- Evaluate third-party subcontractors based on cost, service quality, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
- Liaise with local and international DSV companies, partners, and suppliers.
Documentation and Handling;
- Ensure proper disbursement of invoices and debit notes raised by carriers and outside vendors after thorough verification.
- Keep teams informed of the latest routing changes, launches of new services, and deployments of new vessels, which may affect total tonnage/TEU capacity.
- Handle nomination shipments for internal branches and overseas agents.
- Assist the Export Manager with day-to-day activities as needed, including customer service, operations, clearance documentation, payments, and other shipment-related issues.
- File the NAC (Named Account Filing) contract rates with master carriers for ocean products and keep a copy of the contract for official records.
Management Information Systems (MIS);
- Maintain a comprehensive chart reflecting the complete database necessary for smooth coordination with master carriers.
- Monitor daily activities and maintain various reports.
- Integrate rates with EDI systems and coordinate with the BPQ team and shared services.
- Create and maintain procedures for price desk workflows.
Skills & Competencies
- Upto 2 years of experience in similar role in Freight Forwarding
- Excellent negotiation and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented, capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines.
- Self-motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to prioritize workload for maximum benefit.
- Competence in meeting demanding deadlines and working under pressure.
- Ability to make quick, informed decisions within functional areas without adverse financial implications for the company or its personnel.
Pay: Up to ₹500,000.00 per year
