Job Title: Secondary English Teacher (Grades 6–12)
To deliver high-quality English Language and Literature instruction following the Pearson Edexcel iProgress framework. The candidate will be responsible for transitioning students from foundational literacy in Lower Secondary to the rigorous analytical and evaluative demands of International GCSEs and A Levels.
Key Responsibilities1. Curriculum Delivery & Planning
- Grade 6–8 (iLowerSecondary): Implement the Edexcel iLowerSecondary curriculum, focusing on building core competency in reading, writing, and oral communication.
- Grade 9–10 (IGCSE): Prepare students for Edexcel International GCSE English Language (Spec A or B) and English Literature, ensuring deep understanding of set texts and unseen poetry/prose.
- Grade 11–12 (IAL): Deliver International Advanced Level (IAL) modules, focusing on linguistic analysis (Language) and critical literary theory (Literature).
- Integrate Transferable Skills (critical thinking, collaboration, and analysis) into daily lesson plans as emphasized by the Edexcel framework.
2. Assessment & Examination
- Conduct formative and summative assessments using Edexcel’s 9–1 grading scale.
- Utilize ResultsPlus and examWizard tools to analyze student performance and identify specific learning gaps.
- Prepare students for external examinations through mock exams, timed essay practice, and deep-dives into Edexcel mark schemes and exemplar materials.
3. Differentiation & Support
- Adapt teaching methods for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners to ensure curriculum accessibility.
- Provide high-level challenge for gifted students aiming for Grade 9 (IGCSE) or A* (IAL) results.
4. Professional Collaboration
- Participate in Pearson-led Professional Development (PD) and training sessions to stay updated on specification changes.
- Collaborate with the school administration on student progress reports and parent-teacher conferences.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English Literature, English Language, or Education.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification (e.g., B.Ed, PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Experience: * Minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching the British/Edexcel curriculum.
- Proven track record of successful IGCSE/A Level results.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using digital tools like Pearson ActiveLearn, digital dashboards, and classroom management software.
- Soft Skills: Strong classroom management, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to inspire a love for reading and critical inquiry.
Preferred Skills
- Experience as a Pearson Edexcel Examiner or Moderator.
- Ability to lead extracurricular activities such as Debating, Drama, or School Magazine clubs.
- Familiarity with the modular vs. linear assessment routes offered by Edexcel.
