Key Responsibilities
1. Salon Software Management & Analysis
- Understand and analyze how salons use management software in their daily operations.
- Review and analyze software workflows from a salon user's perspective.
- Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation.
- Help define how salon software should be configured and used.
- Analyze the setup and management of:
- Services and service categories
- Service pricing
- Service duration
- Staff/service assignment
- Packages
- Memberships
- Discounts and promotions
- Commissions
- Appointments and booking rules
- Customer profiles and CRM
- Products and inventory
- POS and billing
- Reports and dashboards
- User roles and permissions
- Multi-location settings
2. Multi-Location Salon Operations
- Understand the difference between corporate/head-office and individual salon-location operations.
- Determine which settings should be controlled centrally and which should be managed at the location level.
- Analyze how salon chains manage common services, pricing, packages, memberships, employees, and policies across multiple locations.
- Understand the requirements of:
- Salon owners
- Corporate/head-office teams
- Regional managers
- Location/salon managers
- Receptionists
- Stylists/beauticians
- Help define appropriate software permissions and workflows for each role.
3. Product Requirements
- Work directly with the Product and Development teams to communicate salon-business requirements.
- Convert salon workflows into clear product requirements, use cases, and user scenarios.
- Explain how a feature should work from the perspective of a real salon employee.
- Review proposed features and provide feedback before development and release.
- Help prioritize features based on actual salon needs.
- Identify missing functionality and recommend improvements.
4. Software Testing & Quality
- Test new and existing software features from a salon-operations perspective.
- Create real-world salon scenarios for testing.
- Identify bugs, workflow problems, confusing screens, and operational gaps.
- Verify that new features work correctly for different salon roles and locations.
- Work with the development team to reproduce and explain issues.
- Participate in user acceptance testing before major releases.
5. Salon Industry Research
- Research how salons and salon chains operate in different markets.
- Study competing salon management software and identify useful features and gaps.
- Speak with salon owners, managers, receptionists, and stylists to understand their needs.
- Monitor changing salon-industry practices and technology requirements.
- Bring real-world industry insights into product discussions.
6. Software Implementation & Training
- Help define best practices for setting up the software for new salon customers.
- Assist with configuring services, pricing, staff, packages, memberships, and other salon settings.
- Help create training materials and workflows for salon employees.
- Participate in customer onboarding and software demonstrations when required.
- Explain software functionality to salon customers in practical business terms.
Required Experience
- 3+ years of experience in the salon, spa, beauty, or wellness industry.
- Hands-on experience working with salon management software, POS, booking, CRM, ERP, or similar systems.
- Strong understanding of salon operations.
- Good understanding of services, pricing, appointments, staff management, commissions, packages, memberships, customers, inventory, billing, and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working with software and learning new technology.
- Ability to clearly explain business processes to product and development teams.
Highly Preferred
- Experience working with a multi-location salon or salon chain.
- Experience at a corporate/head-office or regional level.
- Experience managing or coordinating salon software across multiple locations.
- Experience configuring services, prices, packages, memberships, staff, permissions, or reports in salon software.
