Job description

Skybus Engineering is seeking a skilled and motivated Aircraft Mechanic to join our maintenance team based at Land’s End Airport. The successful candidate will support the maintenance, inspection, repair, and overhaul of company aircraft and associated components, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance activities under the direction of Licensed Aircraft Engineers.
Carry out aircraft inspections, servicing, fault diagnosis, repairs, modifications, and component replacements.
Assist with aircraft defect rectification and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Remove, install, and function-test aircraft components and assemblies.
Conduct maintenance on aircraft wheels, brakes, landing gear, and associated systems.
Complete component overhaul and workshop maintenance tasks as required.
Ensure all maintenance documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain aircraft and workshop tooling, equipment, and facilities in a serviceable condition.
Comply with company procedures, maintenance manuals, and regulatory requirements.
Support aircraft recovery and AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations when required.
Assist with stores activities, including the identification and requisition of replacement parts and materials.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping within hangars, workshops, and maintenance areas.
Participate in shift work, call-out duties, or outstation maintenance activities as required.
Undertake additional duties as directed by engineering supervisors or management to support the efficient operation of the Engineering Department.

Essential Requirements

Recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship, military aircraft engineering training, or equivalent aviation maintenance qualification.
Previous experience working in an aircraft maintenance environment.
Good understanding of aircraft maintenance practices and procedures.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, maintenance instructions, and engineering drawings.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Full UK driving licence.
Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Desirable Requirements

Experience working on turboprop aircraft.
Knowledge of UK CAA Part-145 and Part-M/CAMO environments.
Experience with aircraft maintenance record systems.
Human Factors and Fuel Tank Safety training.
Type experience on aircraft operated by Skybus.
Forklift, towing, or ground handling qualifications.
