The Design and Detail Engineer for Steel Bridge Fabrication will be responsible for the detailed design, drafting, and engineering of steel bridges. This role involves preparing fabrication and erection drawings, ensuring compliance with design codes and standards, and coordinating with structural engineers, fabricators, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in bridge design, steel detailing, and knowledge of fabrication processes to ensure that designs are both feasible and cost-effective.
Design and Detailing:
- Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, including but not limited to assembly drawings, part drawings, and connection details for steel bridge components (e.g., girders, beams, trusses, etc.).
- Review and interpret bridge design calculations, specifications, and drawings to develop accurate and efficient fabrication drawings.
- Create 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Revit).
- Develop and implement innovative design solutions while ensuring structural integrity, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
Bridge Design Support:
- Assist in the development of preliminary bridge designs in collaboration with the lead structural engineer.
- Perform design verification and ensure compliance with design codes (e.g., AISC, AASHTO, Eurocodes) and local standards.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, material specifications, and quantity take-offs.
