Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Software Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe.

Our client is the world’s first real-time government analytics software, data, and media company platform, headquartered in Washington, D.C.

The platform combines the latest AI technology with decades of trusted expertise to simplify the way you track and shape policy. Through our flagship suite, PolicyNote, we deliver the most complete view of the policy landscape — from local to global — on the platform and via API.

As a Productivity and Efficiency Engineer, you will be embedded across the organization to identify where time, effort, and cognitive load are wasted — then build solutions to fix them.

REQUIREMENTS

Solid understanding of programming (with Python preferred) with comfort across APIs, webhooks, scripting, and data pipelines.
Hands-on experience building with LLMs - prompt engineering, agent design, RAG patterns, and tool/function calling.
Ability to zoom out and see how processes, tools, and people interact - not just fix the immediate symptom.
Familiarity with common enterprise tools (Slack, Jira, GSuite, etc.) and integration platforms (Zapier, Make, or similar).
Be comfortable interviewing stakeholders, translating ambiguous pain points into clear problem statements, and presenting solutions to non-technical audiences.
Ownership mindset. You find the problems yourself, propose the solutions, and see them through - without waiting to be handed a spec.
You are equal parts investigator, systems thinker, and builder.
Your output ranges from lightweight automations to full AI-powered internal tools, and your north star is always the same: make people faster, reduce friction, and eliminate toil.

NICE TO HAVE

Experience building MCP servers or Claude skills.
Familiarity with process mining tools.
Background in operations, business analysis, or formal process improvement.
Experience building or contributing to internal developer platforms.
Lean or Six Sigma exposure.
Prior experience in a fast-scaling organization where processes are still being defined.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct structured discovery with teams to document workflows, surface bottlenecks, and quantify the cost of manual or repetitive work.
Evaluate candidates for automation, AI augmentation, or tool consolidation, and develop a prioritized roadmap based on impact
and feasibility.
Design and implement the right solution for the job: knowledge of Claude, AI agents, internal tools, API integrations, or multi-system automations.
Connect disparate systems (Slack, Jira, Google Workspace, Monday, etc.) through agentic workflows rather than replacing what already works.
Define success metrics for every solution you ship, monitor adoption and impact, and continuously improve based on feedback.
Document patterns, reusable components, and lessons learned so the organization’s automation capability compounds over time.
