About the Internship
Selected intern ' s day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. The Clinical Counsellor Intern will work across four integrated programme areas: hospital-based geriatric care, children care , community memory screening, and dementia awareness training.
2. Provide psycho-social counselling and emotional support to children and geriatric patients (50+ years) in partner hospitals - Neurology, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, and Nephrology departments
3. Conduct one-on-one and small group support sessions addressing patient anxiety, confusion, loneliness, and adjustment to illness. Help patients and families understand diagnosis, care plans, and available welfare support resources
4. Administer the neurocognitive screening battery and physical performance assessments at hospitals, memory screening camps, old age homes, and day care centres, following standardised protocols strictly
5. Facilitate therapy sessions using culturally appropriate prompts to evoke autobiographical memory, reduce depression, and improve mood and social engagement
6. Deliver dementia awareness sessions in Telugu to RWA groups, senior citizen clubs, and community health workers, liaise with hospital academic coordinators, old age home staff, and day care centre coordinators to schedule visits and confirm sessions.
Who Can Apply
Only those candidates can apply who:
1. Available for a full-time internship (field + office-based; no remote work)
2. Can start immediately or within 1 week of selection, and commit to the full 6-month duration
3. Proficient in Telugu (mandatory) and English.
4. Comfortable with daily travel to field sites across the Hyderabad metropolitan region.
Other Requirements
1. Recently completed a Master ' s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling, or Neuropsychology - with exposure to cognitive assessment or psychological testing
2. Recently completed a degree in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Nursing, Gerontology, Public Health, Pharmacy, Community Health, or allied health sciences.
3. Basic familiarity with neurocognitive assessment tools preferred; training on the assessments will be provided before deployment.
4. Knowledge of Therapies through coursework, placement, or self-directed learning is a strong advantage.
5. Confident public speaker - comfortable presenting to groups of 20-50 people in community and hospital settings
6. Meticulous attention to protocol adherence; all assessments must be administered and scored strictly per standardised guidelines; any deviation must be reported immediately to the supervisor.
7. Warm, patient, and empathetic demeanour - ability to build rapport quickly with elderly participants is essential for valid assessment and therapeutic outcomes
8. Physically able to conduct field assessments including gait tests and chair stand tests in varied environments (care homes, community halls, outdoor spaces)
9. Organised, disciplined, punctual, and able to maintain professional conduct in sensitive clinical settings.
