Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer with hands-on knowledge of VMC (Vertical Machining Center) machine operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing mechanical components, preparing manufacturing drawings, coordinating with production teams, and supporting machining activities to ensure quality and productivity standards are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify 2D/3D mechanical designs using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and manufacturing documentation.
- Develop component and assembly designs considering manufacturability and machining requirements.
- Operate and understand VMC machines for prototype development and production support.
- Interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and machining specifications.
- Coordinate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to optimize machining processes.
- Select suitable cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters.
- Conduct design reviews and implement design improvements based on manufacturing feedback.
- Troubleshoot machining and design-related issues to improve product quality and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in mechanical design and VMC machining operations.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of CNC/VMC programming concepts and machining processes.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixture design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CAM software.
- Knowledge of CNC programming (G-code/M-code).
- Exposure to fabrication or precision machining industries.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
