About the Role
Naruvi Hospitals is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Consultant Nephrologist to join our Nephrology Department. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to delivering world-class renal care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases.
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient nephrology consultations.
- Manage patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), hypertension, glomerular diseases, electrolyte disorders, and renal complications of systemic illnesses.
- Oversee and manage haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis services.
- Assess and prepare patients for renal replacement therapy, including dialysis and kidney transplantation.
- Provide pre- and post-kidney transplant evaluation and follow-up care in collaboration with transplant teams.
- Perform nephrology procedures such as temporary dialysis catheter insertion (where credentialed) and renal biopsy (as per hospital privileges).
- Collaborate with intensivists, physicians, surgeons, endocrinologists, cardiologists, and other specialists to provide multidisciplinary patient care.
- Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation and adherence to hospital protocols.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, CMEs, and academic activities.
- Mentor junior doctors, residents, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals as required.
Qualifications
- DM/DNB in Nephrology (or equivalent qualification recognised by the National Medical Commission).
- MD/DNB in General Medicine as the qualifying postgraduate degree.
- Valid Medical Council registration.
Experience
- Minimum: 1 year
- Maximum: 5 years
- Experience in managing dialysis services and kidney transplant patients is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical expertise in nephrology and renal replacement therapies.
- Sound knowledge of haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis protocols.
- Excellent clinical decision-making and diagnostic skills.
- Effective communication and patient counselling abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient safety, and ethical medical practice.
Work Schedule
- Shift Pattern: Rotational shifts
- Working Hours: 9 hours per day
- Working Days: 6 days per week
- Participation in emergency, dialysis, and on-call duties as per departmental roster.
Nephrologist Responsibilities:
- Conducting consultations to diagnose illnesses.
- Evaluating kidneys to determine treatment.
- Referring patients to surgeons.
- Treating and managing conditions.
- Recommending dialysis.
- Administering medication.
Nephrologist Requirements:
- Doctoral degree in medicine.
- Graduate of an accredited nephrology training program.
- Excellent organizational skills.
