Job Summary:
The Pharmacist is responsible for managing and dispensing medications safely and accurately for women, infants, and pediatric patients. The role includes ensuring compliance with hospital policies, maintaining inventory, counseling patients and caregivers, coordinating with doctors and nurses, and promoting safe medication practices.
Key Responsibilities:Medication Management
- Dispense medications accurately as per doctor's prescriptions.
- Review prescriptions for dosage, drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation of medications.
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of medicines and consumables.
Patient Care and Counseling
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding medication usage, dosage, storage, and side effects.
- Provide counseling on medications prescribed during pregnancy, lactation, and pediatric treatment.
- Guide parents on proper administration of pediatric medications.
Inventory and Store Management
- Maintain inventory records and ensure availability of essential medicines.
- Monitor expiry dates and remove expired or damaged stock.
- Coordinate with suppliers for procurement and replenishment of medicines.
- Maintain narcotic and controlled drug registers as per regulations.
Clinical Support
- Collaborate with doctors and nursing staff regarding medication requirements.
- Participate in medication safety initiatives and adverse drug reaction reporting.
- Assist in developing and implementing pharmacy protocols and SOPs.
- Support emergency medication management and crash cart monitoring.
Compliance and Documentation
- Maintain pharmacy records, stock registers, and prescription records.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Follow infection control and patient safety standards.
- Participate in internal audits and accreditation processes.
Quality and Safety
- Ensure safe storage and handling of medications.
- Monitor high-risk medications and pediatric dosage calculations.
- Report medication errors, incidents, and near misses.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Educational Qualifications:
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm).
- Valid registration with the respective State Pharmacy Council.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy.
- Experience in women and children's hospitals, neonatal care, or pediatric pharmacy is preferred.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of maternal and pediatric medications.
- Understanding of drug interactions and dosage calculations.
- Inventory and stock management skills.
- Good communication and counseling abilities.
- Knowledge of hospital pharmacy software and MS Office.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in shifts and emergency situations.

Working Conditions:
