Role Overview
A junior accountant supports the finance team with basic accounting tasks, record-keeping, and financial reporting. It’s usually a starting position for someone beginning a career in accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Recording daily financial transactions (sales, expenses, payments)
- Maintaining ledgers and journals
- Assisting in preparation of financial statements
- Handling invoices, billing, and accounts payable/receivable
- Reconciling bank statements
- Supporting audits and tax filings
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (e.g., B.Com)
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles (like GAAP concepts)
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, Excel)
