Plasma & Gas Cutting Operator – Roles & Responsibilities
Experience Required: 2–3 Years
Industry: Heavy Fabrication / Manufacturing
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC Plasma Cutting and Gas Cutting Machines as per production requirements.
- Perform cutting of MS plates, structural components, and fabrication parts as per engineering drawings.
- Set up machine parameters, cutting programs, and consumables for optimum cutting quality.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, nesting plans, and cutting layouts.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and cutting quality as per specifications.
- Monitor machine performance and carry out routine maintenance checks.
- Minimize material wastage through proper nesting and cutting practices.
- Inspect cut components for defects and coordinate with the Quality team when required.
- Maintain production records, machine logs, and material consumption reports.
- Follow safety procedures while handling gases, cylinders, and cutting equipment.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and implementation of 5S practices in the work area.
- Coordinate with Production, PPC, and Stores departments for smooth workflow.
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report major breakdowns to Maintenance.
- Ensure timely completion of cutting jobs as per production schedules.
Required Skills:
- Hands-on experience in CNC Plasma Cutting Machine Operation
- Experience in Oxy-Fuel / Gas Cutting Operations
- Ability to read Engineering Drawings and Nesting Plans
- Knowledge of Plate Cutting, Material Handling, and Fabrication Processes
- Understanding of Cutting Quality Standards and Dimensional Control
- Knowledge of Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Awareness of Safety Practices related to Gas and Plasma Cutting
Educational Qualification:
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
Experience:
- 2–3 Years of experience as a Plasma Cutting Operator / Gas Cutting Operator in Heavy Fabrication, Structural Fabrication, Trailer Manufacturing, Engineering, or Steel Fabrication Industry.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
