The Flour Mill Manager is responsible for overseeing the complete operations of the flour mill, ensuring efficient production, quality control, maintenance, safety compliance, inventory management, and workforce supervision. The role focuses on maximizing productivity while maintaining product quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management
- Plan, organize, and monitor daily milling operations.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within quality standards.
- Optimize machine utilization and production efficiency.
- Monitor grain cleaning, conditioning, milling, and packaging processes.
Quality Control
- Ensure flour products meet company and regulatory quality standards.
- Monitor moisture levels, extraction rates, and product specifications.
- Coordinate with quality assurance teams for testing and inspections.
- Implement corrective actions for quality-related issues.
Maintenance & Equipment Management
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure all milling machinery and equipment operate efficiently.
- Minimize production downtime through effective maintenance planning.
- Liaise with maintenance technicians and external service providers.
Inventory & Raw Material Management
- Monitor stock levels of wheat, grains, packaging materials, and finished goods.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials.
- Coordinate procurement requirements with the purchasing department.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and reports.
Team Leadership
- Supervise mill operators, technicians, and support staff.
- Assign duties and monitor employee performance.
- Conduct training programs on operational procedures and safety standards.
- Foster teamwork and a productive work environment.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain workplace safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and environmental regulations.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Analyze operational performance and recommend improvements.
- Maintain records related to production, maintenance, quality, and inventory.
- Monitor operational costs and support budget control initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in food processing or mill operations are preferred.
Experience:
- 5–10 years of experience in flour milling, grain processing, or food manufacturing operations.
- Minimum 2–3 years of managerial or supervisory experience in a flour mill.
