Role Summary
The Studio Manager is the face and engine of the studio — responsible for how it runs day-to-day and how it performs as a business. You will lead a team of trainers and sales staff, manage the studio's budget and targets, and ensure every member has an outstanding experience from their first walk-in to their hundredth class. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys people, numbers, and problem-solving in equal measure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Studio Operations
* Own the day-to-day running of the studio, ensuring it is always clean, safe, well-maintained, and ready for members.
* Set and enforce standard operating procedures for opening/closing, equipment upkeep, and health & safety compliance.
* Supervise front-desk and studio staff, ensuring smooth class scheduling, check-ins, and member flow.
* Listen to member feedback, resolve complaints quickly, and use recurring issues to improve studio processes.
2. Sales, Marketing & Client Retention
* Own and deliver the studio's monthly sales targets across memberships, packages, and walk-ins.
* Design and run local retention initiatives — check-ins, milestone recognition, referral programs — to reduce member drop-off.
* Plan and execute marketing activities such as trial classes, open days, and social media promotions to drive footfall.
* Build and maintain relationships with corporates, residential communities, and local organizations to generate new member leads.
3. Financial Management
* Manage the studio's operating budget, keeping a close eye on costs like staffing, consumables, and maintenance.
* Track revenue against targets and take corrective action when performance is off-plan.
* Review sales, attendance, and membership data regularly to spot trends and inform decisions on pricing, staffing, and promotions.
4. Team Leadership & Development
* Lead, coach, and motivate a team of private trainers, group fitness instructors, and sales executives.
* Drive hiring for open roles, and onboard, train, and upskill new team members.
* Conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews, giving clear, constructive feedback.
* Build a positive, inclusive studio culture where staff feel supported and members feel welcome.
What We're Looking For Must-Haves
* 2+ years of experience in hospitality, Pilates/fitness studio operations, or a similar client-facing service business.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills — comfortable managing a diverse team.
* A proven track record in sales and marketing, ideally against monthly or quarterly targets.
Good to Have
* Prior experience using gym or studio management software (bookings, memberships, POS).
* Working knowledge of sales and marketing strategies for a subscription or membership-based business.
* Genuine interest in fitness, wellness, or Pilates, and familiarity with current industry trends.
