About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager – Purchase to lead procurement and supply chain activities for a reputed chemical manufacturing organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in sourcing raw materials, engineering spares, and packaging materials while ensuring cost optimization, quality, and uninterrupted production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement of Raw Materials (RM), Packaging Materials (PM), Engineering Spares, and other indirect materials at competitive prices.
- Lead and mentor a team of 3–5 procurement professionals.
- Handle import procurement, customs clearance, and international sourcing activities.
- Ensure compliance with all local and international procurement regulations, statutory requirements, and industry standards.
- Prepare procurement plans, budgets, and purchasing policies aligned with production requirements.
- Develop and implement a rolling material forecast system in coordination with production and planning teams.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers while maintaining strong relationships with existing vendors.
- Assess suppliers based on pricing, quality, manufacturing capability, financial stability, and delivery performance.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials through effective coordination and follow-up.
- Resolve vendor-related issues such as quality concerns, rejections, payment disputes, and delivery delays.
- Coordinate with Technical, Quality Assurance, and vendors for new material development and continuous quality improvement.
- Maintain procurement records, supplier performance metrics, and inventory optimization initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with ISO TS / IATF standards and company quality systems.
Required Qualifications
- B.E. in Chemical Engineering from a reputed institution.
- Strong academic background.
Experience
- 16–18 years of experience in Supply Chain Management / Purchase within the Chemical Manufacturing Industry.
- Preferred experience in:
- Specialty Chemicals
- Lubricants
- Grease Manufacturing
- Oil Manufacturing Plants
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and strategic sourcing experience.
