Job Title: Head Barista

Job Summary
The Head Barista is responsible for overseeing all coffee operations, ensuring exceptional beverage quality, maintaining high customer service standards, managing the barista team, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations. The role involves training staff, controlling inventory, maintaining coffee equipment, and creating a welcoming café experience that enhances guest satisfaction and profitability.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoffee & Beverage Operations
- Prepare and serve premium coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, and specialty drinks according to standard recipes.
- Ensure consistency in beverage quality, presentation, and taste.
- Develop and introduce seasonal beverages and signature coffee creations.
- Monitor daily coffee production and minimize wastage.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, motivate, and guide baristas during shifts.
- Prepare staff schedules and allocate daily responsibilities.
- Conduct on-the-job training for new and existing baristas.
- Evaluate team performance and provide constructive feedback.
Guest Service
- Deliver exceptional guest service with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Resolve guest complaints promptly and professionally.
- Build customer relationships and encourage repeat business.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting coffee bar.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor coffee beans, milk, syrups, disposables, and other supplies.
- Maintain stock levels and coordinate ordering with the purchasing department.
- Minimize product wastage through proper storage and inventory control.
- Conduct regular stock counts and maintain inventory records.
Equipment Maintenance
- Ensure espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment are cleaned and maintained daily.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs when required.
- Ensure equipment is operating efficiently at all times.
Hygiene & Safety
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of the coffee preparation area and equipment.
- Follow HACCP and local health regulations.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of food and beverages.
Administration
- Prepare daily sales and shift reports.
- Monitor beverage sales and identify opportunities to improve revenue.
- Assist in budgeting and cost-control initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs and operational standards.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Barista Skills, Hospitality, or Food & Beverage Management is preferred.
- Specialty coffee certification is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Barista.
- At least 1–2 years of supervisory or Head Barista experience in a café, coffee chain, hotel, or premium restaurant.
- Experience in specialty coffee preparation and latte art is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours as required.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift supplies up to 15 kg.
