The Special Educator is responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering individualized educational and developmental interventions for children with special needs. The role involves working closely with children diagnosed with developmental delays, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, intellectual disability, and other special needs, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Planning
- Conduct educational and functional assessments of children
- Prepare Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and learning goals
- Identify strengths, needs, and learning styles of each child
Intervention & Teaching
- Implement structured and individualized teaching programs
- Use evidence-based teaching strategies and assistive tools
- Support academic, social, behavioral, and daily living skills
- Provide remedial education and adaptive learning support
Collaboration
- Work closely with psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavior therapists, and parents
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and reviews
- Coordinate classroom and therapy-based learning approaches
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate session notes, progress reports, and case files
- Prepare monthly and quarterly progress summaries
- Assist in compliance with institutional and regulatory documentation
Parent & Caregiver Support
- Counsel and guide parents on home-based strategies
- Conduct parent training sessions and awareness programs
- Communicate progress and concerns clearly and empathetically
Qualifications
Mandatory:
- B.Ed (Special Education) / M.Ed (Special Education)
- RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) Registration – Active & Valid
Preferred:
- Experience in working with children with developmental or learning difficulties
- Exposure to inclusive education or clinical/therapy settings
Skills & Competencies
- Strong child-handling and classroom management skills
- Knowledge of special education methodologies and behavior management
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Patience, empathy, and a child-centered approach
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Experience
- 0–2 years: Freshers may apply (with supervision)
- 2+ years: Preferred for independent case handling
