Job Summary
The NICU/PICU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, evidence-based, and compassionate nursing care to critically ill neonates, infants, and children. The nurse assists consultants in patient management, continuously monitors patients, administers medications, operates specialized equipment, and maintains accurate clinical documentation while adhering to hospital protocols and infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients.
- Continuously monitor vital signs and promptly identify and report any deterioration in patient condition.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and nutritional support as prescribed.
- Assist consultants during bedside procedures, resuscitation, intubation, central line insertion, lumbar puncture, and emergency interventions.
- Operate and monitor ventilators, CPAP, HFNC, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, monitors, incubators, radiant warmers, and phototherapy units.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and comply with infection prevention and control protocols.
- Ensure accurate documentation of nursing assessments, medications, procedures, intake-output charts, and clinical observations.
- Collect and send laboratory specimens as per protocol.
- Maintain emergency preparedness by ensuring crash carts and emergency equipment are functional and adequately stocked.
- Educate and counsel parents regarding patient care, feeding, infection prevention, and discharge instructions.
- Coordinate effectively with consultants, resident doctors, respiratory therapists, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical and professional standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, continuing nursing education, and departmental meetings.
- Ensure proper handover during shift changes and maintain continuity of patient care.
- Comply with all hospital policies, biomedical waste management guidelines, NABH standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Nursing In-charge, Nursing Superintendent, or Hospital Management.
Qualification
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing (Mandatory)
- Valid Nursing Registration with the State Nursing Council.
Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in NICU/PICU preferred.
- Freshers with adequate clinical exposure may also be considered.

Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure emergency and critical care environments.
- Exposure to infectious diseases and medical emergencies with adherence to appropriate safety precautions.
Pay: From ₹10,500.00 per month
