Senior Software Engineer II (SSE2)

The Senior Software Engineer II is a hands-on technical leader who owns the long-term health and evolution of a business domain or major software system. The role translates complex business needs into scalable, secure and maintainable solutions, guides delivery across teams, and improves engineering standards, reliability and developer effectiveness.

Own the technical direction, architecture and operational health of a domain or significant application area.

Lead complex initiatives from requirements and design through implementation, release and production stabilization.

Make independent technical decisions, explain trade-offs, and simplify systems while balancing speed, quality, security, performance and cost.

Define and improve engineering practices for coding, testing, code review, CI/CD, configuration management, observability and incident response.

Partner with product, architecture, security, platform and other engineering teams to resolve dependencies and deliver outcomes.

Mentor engineers across teams, contribute to technical reviews, knowledge sharing, hiring and onboarding.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered.

Typically 5-8 years of hands-on software engineering experience, including ownership of complex production systems and technical leadership beyond an individual module or feature.
