About the role
The IT PMO Analyst supports the IT Project Management Office by enabling consistent project, demand, and portfolio governance across the IT organisation. The role is responsible for providing analytical, coordination, reporting, and administrative support across the full project and demand lifecycle.
Working closely with the PMO Lead, Project Managers, Demand Managers, and IT Leadership, the PMO Analyst ensures that PMO frameworks, standards, processes, and reporting are applied consistently and that portfolio information is accurate, timely, and decision ready. The role plays a critical part in supporting portfolio transparency, governance forums, and continuous improvement of PMO practices.
What you will be doing
PMO Governance and Standards
Support the consistent application of Orica’s project management methodologies, standards, and governance frameworks across IT projects and demands
Assist in maintaining PMO processes, templates, tools, and documentation
Support compliance checks and assurance activities across projects and programs
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in PMO processes and ways of working
Portfolio and Demand Management Support
Support the end-to-end demand and project lifecycle including intake, prioritisation, approval, delivery, and closure
Maintain accurate portfolio, project, and demand data within PMO systems and tools
Track project and demand status, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and benefits
Support coordination of portfolio planning, prioritisation, and reporting cycles
Reporting and Analytics
Prepare regular and ad hoc portfolio, project, and financial reports and dashboards for IT leadership and governance forums
Support tracking and reporting of budgets, forecasts, actuals, and variances across the IT project portfolio
Analyse portfolio trends, delivery performance, risks, and capacity to support decision making
Ensure data quality, consistency, and timeliness of PMO reporting
Governance Forums and Stakeholder Support
Coordinate and support PMO and portfolio governance forums (e.g. agenda preparation, materials collation, minutes, and action tracking)
Track and follow up actions, decisions, and approvals arising from governance meetings
Act as a key point of contact for PMO related queries from Project Managers and stakeholders
Support effective communication between PMO, project teams, and stakeholders
Project and PM Support
Provide day-to-day PMO support to Project Managers including guidance on PMO processes and artefacts
Assist with project planning, scheduling, and status reporting as required
Support project closure activities including documentation, financial closure, and transition to BAU
What you will bring
2–5 years of experience working within an IT PMO, project, or portfolio environment
Practical experience supporting project governance, reporting, and portfolio coordination
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in PMO and reporting tools (e.g. MS Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint; ServiceNow tools desirable)
Tertiary qualification in Business, Information Systems, Project Management, or equivalent practical experience
Preferrably with experience working in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments
Exposure to portfolio governance forums and financial tracking is a plus
