Colgate-Palmolive is seeking a Sr. Technical specialist (SAP Data Retention & Archiving). In this role, you will participate in data archiving and retention initiatives across our SAP landscape, focusing heavily on the Supply Chain network. You will collaborate with global business, functional, and IT teams to manage day-to-day support incidents and drive major project implementations.
Understand and apply Information Technology standards to daily support and project implementation activities
Applying conceptual knowledge of business processes and technology to solve highly complex business processes and procedural problems
Handle and/or perform the design, build and testing of business applications and its architecture in line with agreed time frames, business requirements and global standards
Maintain production systems reliability through correct utilization of IT standards and governance processes
Support day to day business requirements according to global SLA
Ensure the proper use of information technology project management methodology to align with governance practices
Collaborate with business / functional team, develop detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of build, system testing and implementation of project
Review program codes and suggest correction in case of any errors
Conduct performance tuning to improve system performance over multiple business processes
Stay updated with the latest technological advancement. Adapt to these changes by self-training and research work and evaluate how / where it can make valuable contributions to the business
Mentor and coach junior developer resources
Background: Engineering degree with 8+ years of experience in SAP Archiving and Supply Chain modules.
SAP ADK & AS: Deep expertise in the Archiving Development Kit framework (write, delete, store phases) and setting up the Archive Information System for easy data retrieval.
SAP ILM & Compliance: Strong experience with SAP Information Lifecycle Management to manage retention rules, legal holds, and GDPR/privacy-compliant data destruction.
Storage & Content Management: Experience connecting SAP to repositories (e.g., OpenText, cloud storage) via ArchiveLink.
S/4HANA Ready: Solid understanding of data tiering (Hot/Warm/Cold) to optimize SAP HANA memory footprints.
You must understand how archiving affects live business processes and dependencies within the following areas:
Material Management (MM): Archiving objects like MM_MATNR, MM_EKKO, MM_REBEL, and MM_SPSTOCK. Understanding impacts on inventory and open POs.
Production Planning (PP): Archiving objects like PP_ORDER, PP_BKPF, and PP_BOM. Managing impacts on active schedules and costing runs.
Quality Management (QM): Archiving objects like QM_QLTY_IN and QM_SAMPLE. Ensuring historical records remain compliant for ISO/FDA audits.
Logistics & SD: Archiving objects like SD_VBAK, RV_LIKP, and SD_VFKK. Navigating document flows so uncompleted sales orders/deliveries aren't prematurely archived.
ABAP knowledge
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with global privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and tax audit requirements using the Data Retention Tool (DART).
Problem-Solving: Strong root-cause analysis skills to troubleshoot complex system issues logically.
Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between IT infrastructure teams and business process owners.
Adaptability: A flexible mindset with a proven ability to self-train on new technologies.
