PRS is a leading research group with the mission to strengthen India’s democracy by helping Parliament and state assemblies be more effective. These institutions make laws, hold governments accountable and allocate public funds. It is important that they have information and analysis to perform their functions well, and that citizens have channels for engaging with their elected representatives.
PRS is hiring Analysts for the research team. Members of the research team prepare briefing notes on Bills in Parliament and state assemblies, policy developments and budgets. They also brief senior policy makers in person, and write occasional articles in the media.
Core responsibilities: As part of the research team at PRS, the analyst will play a key role in supporting MPs and MLAs with high-quality and credible research on important policy and legislative matters. Analysts will be required to track legislative developments in Parliament and state assemblies. They will be required to analyse new legislation, write thematic briefs on important policy issues, and analyse government budgets. In addition, the role requires analysts to communicate their research by briefing MPs, presenting analysis at various fora and interacting with key stakeholders. Analysts are also expected to keep track of political developments across the country.
Abilities required: (a) Strong analytical skills; (b) Good writing and communication skills; (c) Good quantitative skills with an ability to analyse and represent data accurately; (d) Ability to work independently while being a team player; (e) Ability to multi-task and deliver quality work in a timely way; (f) Objective thinking and openness to ideas; (g) Keen interest in and understanding of Indian politics.
Qualifications sought: Master's degree or a professional degree, or an undergraduate degree with at least 2-3 years of work experience.
Location: This is a full-time role based in Delhi and may require travel for research and dissemination of research.
