Job Summary
The Production Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring sheet metal fabrication activities to ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality, safety, and cost efficiency. The role involves supervising fabrication processes, optimizing workflow, and ensuring timely delivery of finished products.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and monitor daily production activities for sheet metal fabrication.
- Supervise fabrication operations including laser cutting, shearing, bending, punching, welding, grinding, and assembly.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality standards.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs.
- Coordinate with design, planning, quality, and stores departments.
- Monitor machine utilization and manpower productivity.
- Implement process improvements to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Maintain production records, reports, and documentation.
- Identify and resolve production issues and equipment-related problems.
- Monitor raw material consumption and minimize scrap.
- Support new product development and production trials.
- Train and guide shop-floor operators and technicians.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of laser cutting, CNC bending, turret punching, welding, and fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production planning.
- Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices.
- Knowledge of quality tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- 2–8 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing.
Pay: ₹10,792.68 - ₹30,000.00 per month
