Location: Dahod, Gujarat
Department: Production / Milling
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Summary
The Besan Miller is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end milling process of converting chana dal (chickpeas) into high-quality besan (gram flour). The ideal candidate must possess strong hands-on experience with traditional, older-generation milling machinery (such as stone chakkis and basic pulverizers) while demonstrating the aptitude and willingness to learn and operate modernized, automated milling technologies as the facility upgrades.
Key Responsibilities1. Core Milling Operations (Current Machinery)
· Operate and monitor traditional or semi-automatic milling machines, pulverizers, and sieving equipment.
· Adjust millstone pressure and feed rates manually to ensure the correct particle size (mesh size) and prevent the flour from overheating or burning during the grinding process.
· Perform manual "dressing" (roughening) of emery stones or replacing screens and hammers in pulverizers to maintain grinding efficiency.
· Monitor the raw material feed to ensure stones, dust, and impurities are separated before grinding.
2. Technology Adaptability & Transition
· Actively participate in training sessions for new automated machinery (e.g., pneumatic milling systems, PLC-controlled panels, and automated color sorters).
· Assist plant engineers and technicians during the installation and calibration of new milling equipment.
· Adapt to digital logging and automated quality control checks as the plant phases out manual record-keeping.
3. Quality Control & Hygiene
· Conduct hourly visual and tactile checks on the besan for texture, color, moisture content, and consistency.
· Maintain strict hygiene standards around the milling area to prevent cross-contamination, pest infestation, and moisture buildup.
· Manage the bagging and weighing process, ensuring correct packaging weights with minimal spillage.
Qualifications & Skills
· Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a besan, wheat, or dal mill.
· Technical Skills: Deep understanding of traditional grinding mechanisms (chakkis/pulverizers), screen sizes, and motor loads.
· Adaptability: Proven ability to learn new systems; basic literacy to operate digital touch-panels or read digital moisture meters is highly preferred.
· Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical labor, including lifting bags and performing mechanical maintenance in a dusty, noisy environment.
