Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative furniture concepts from initial sketches to final production drawings
- Create 2D and 3D design documentation including technical drawings, renders, and specifications
- Collaborate closely with production, sourcing, and quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective
- Research materials, finishes, hardware, and construction methods suitable for different furniture categories
- Develop prototypes and coordinate with vendors/workshops for sampling and refinements
- Ensure designs meet brand aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, and durability standards
- Stay updated with design trends, materials, and global furniture innovations
- Review samples and provide feedback for improvements before mass production
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Essential Skills
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks / Rhino / Fusion 360, and rendering tools (KeyShot, V-Ray, etc.)
- Excellent understanding of wood, metal, upholstery, laminates, veneers, finishes, and hardware
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing techniques, joinery, tolerances, and costing considerations
- Ability to create clear technical drawings and BOMs for production
- Strong visual sense for proportion, form, color, and materials
- Experience working with manufacturers, carpenters, or factories is a plus
