Job Summary
The OT Technician assists doctors, surgeons, and nursing staff before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role involves maintaining a sterile OT environment, preparing surgical equipment, supporting patient care, and following infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities: Pre-Operative Duties
- Prepare operation theatre before surgery
- Arrange sterile surgical instruments and equipment
- Check functioning of OT lights, suction machines, monitors, and anesthesia machines
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation
- Ensure availability of surgical supplies and medicines
Intra-Operative Duties
- Assist surgeons and nurses during surgeries
- Pass instruments and surgical materials during procedures
- Maintain sterile field throughout surgery
- Monitor OT equipment during operations
- Handle surgical specimens properly
Post-Operative Duties
- Clean and disinfect OT after procedures
- Sterilize instruments and prepare for next surgery
- Dispose biomedical waste according to hospital protocols
- Shift patients to recovery room
- Maintain OT inventory and records
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / B.Sc in Operation Theatre Technology
- OT Technician certification preferred
- 1–3 years hospital experience preferred
