We are looking for caring, responsible, and attentive Dog Caretakers who genuinely love dogs and can ensure their safety, comfort, and wellbeing throughout their stay.
What You'll Do
- Take care of dogs staying at Pawkie Planet and ensure they are safe, comfortable, and happy
- Handle dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments
- Follow individual care instructions provided by pet parents
- Feed dogs according to their prescribed diet and feeding schedule
- Ensure dogs have access to clean drinking water
- Take dogs for walks and provide supervised playtime
- Monitor dogs throughout the day and observe changes in behaviour, appetite, energy, or mood
- Keep dog homes, play areas, and common spaces clean and hygienic
- Clean and sanitise feeding areas, bedding, and dog spaces regularly
- Administer basic medication as instructed by the pet parent or veterinarian
- Immediately report any injury, illness, unusual behaviour, or emergency to the supervisor
- Ensure dogs are properly supervised during group play and interactions
- Help dogs settle into the boarding environment and reduce stress or anxiety
- Maintain accurate records of feeding, walks, medication, and other important care activities
- Coordinate with the Dog Trainer, Groomer, Receptionist, and other team members
- Follow Pawkie Planet's safety, hygiene, and dog handling procedures
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience working with dogs is preferred
- Genuine love and compassion for dogs
- Comfortable handling dogs of different sizes and temperaments
- Basic understanding of dog behaviour and body language
- Patient, calm, and responsible attitude
- Physically active and comfortable spending extended periods on their feet
- Good observation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow feeding, walking, medication, and care instructions accurately
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and rotational shifts
Good to Have
- Experience in dog boarding, daycare, kennels, shelters, grooming centres, or veterinary clinics
- Basic knowledge of dog first aid and emergency handling
- Experience handling anxious, nervous, or reactive dogs
- Knowledge of basic dog training and commands
