Job Summary
The Fitter is responsible for the assembly, fitting, alignment, installation, and mechanical finishing of power and distribution transformers according to engineering drawings, quality standards, and company procedures. The role requires maintaining high workmanship standards while ensuring safety, productivity, and quality.
Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Assembly
- Assemble transformer tanks, covers, radiators, conservators, and other mechanical components.
- Perform fitting and alignment of transformer parts according to drawings.
- Install bushings, valves, piping, cooling systems, and accessories.
- Carry out gasket fitting and leak-proof assembly.
- Perform drilling, tapping, grinding, cutting, and finishing operations.
- Ensure proper tightening of bolts using specified torque values.
Fabrication Support
- Read fabrication and assembly drawings.
- Assist welders during fabrication and assembly.
- Perform minor fabrication and fitting modifications when required.
- Prepare components before assembly.
Quality Control
- Ensure all assemblies meet quality standards.
- Inspect components before installation.
- Report damaged or defective materials.
- Rectify assembly defects identified during inspection.
- Support hydro test and leak test activities.
Production Support
- Complete assigned production targets.
- Maintain production records as instructed.
- Coordinate with fabrication, winding, testing, and quality departments.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned work.
Safety
- Follow company safety procedures.
- Wear PPE at all times.
- Maintain housekeeping in the work area.
- Handle tools and equipment safely.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
Required Skills

Educational Qualification
- ITI Fitter (Mandatory)
- NCVT/SCVT Certification Preferred

Declaration
The Fitter shall perform all duties assigned by the Production Supervisor or Management related to transformer manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and production operations while complying with company policies, safety regulations, and quality management systems.
