Job Summary
The DataStage Administrator will own environment configuration, platform administration, migration support, security setup, and operational readiness of DataStage 11.x environments. This role is especially important because the migration approach explicitly includes building the new 11.x environment, installing/configuring components, recreating connections, backup/archive, and repository handling.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain IBM DataStage 11.x environments across DEV, TEST, UAT, and PROD.
Manage project configuration, engine settings, repository-related configurations, DSNs, connectivity, and environment parameters.
Perform environment refresh, patching, health monitoring, backup, and restoration support.
Recreate connections and platform configurations required during migration.
Monitor job execution environment, resource utilisation, and scheduler/runtime dependencies.
Manage user access, security roles, privileges, and operational controls.
Support export/import utilities, artefact migration, and migration packaging.
Troubleshoot environment-level failures, configuration issues, connectivity issues, and platform bottlenecks.
Coordinate with infrastructure and support teams on UNIX/Linux, storage, networking, and operational readiness.
Skill Requirements
Strong hands-on experience in DataStage administration and configuration .
Experience with DataStage installation, environment setup, patching, and production support.
Good working knowledge of UNIX/Linux, shell scripting, job monitoring, environment variables, and configuration management .
Other Requirements
Experience supporting DataStage version upgrades / environment migrations .
Knowledge of security setup, performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery considerations.
Suggested Experience
6–12+ years depending on band.
