MERN Stack Developer

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and hands-on MERN Stack Developer who will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining our web application.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of features from development → testing → bug fixing → deployment, and should be able to work independently in a fast-paced product environment.
You will work closely with the product and development team to build scalable, reliable, and user-friendly applications.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain web applications using the MERN stack.
* Build responsive and user-friendly interfaces using React.js.
* Develop scalable backend services and REST APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
* Design and manage databases using MongoDB.
* Integrate third-party APIs and external services when required.
* Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-structured code.
* Develop new features based on product requirements.
* Perform unit testing, integration testing, and functional testing of application features.
* Identify, debug, and resolve application bugs and performance issues.
* Perform regression testing before releases.
* Ensure APIs, frontend components, and database operations work correctly together.
* Review existing code and improve application performance, security, and reliability.
* Participate in code reviews and maintain development standards.
* Work with Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
* Deploy and maintain applications in development, staging, and production environments.
* Monitor production issues and provide timely fixes.
* Create and maintain technical documentation where required.
Required Skills
Frontend
* Strong knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript.
* Strong experience with React.js.
* HTML5 and CSS3.
* Responsive web design.
* Experience with state management such as Redux, Context API, Zustand, or similar.
* Experience working with REST APIs.
Backend
* Strong experience with Node.js.
* Strong experience with Express.js or similar Node.js frameworks.
* Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
* Authentication and authorization concepts.
* Experience with API validation, error handling, logging, and security best practices.
Database
* Strong knowledge of MongoDB.
* Experience designing database schemas and queries.
* Understanding of indexing and database performance optimization.
Testing
* Experience writing and executing unit and integration tests.
* Familiarity with testing tools/frameworks such as Jest, Vitest, Cypress, Playwright, or similar.
* Ability to create test cases and identify edge cases.
* Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman.
* Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Tools & DevOps
* Strong knowledge of Git and GitHub/GitLab.
* Basic understanding of CI/CD.
* Experience deploying applications to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Vercel, Render, or similar.
* Familiarity with Docker is a plus.
Good to Have
* TypeScript experience.
* Next.js experience.
* AWS experience.
* Docker and CI/CD experience.
* Experience working with AI/LLM APIs.
* Experience building SaaS products.
* Experience working in an early-stage startup or product company.
* Understanding of application security and OWASP principles.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but strong practical experience and demonstrable projects will also be considered.
