*Job Summary*
We are looking for an experienced Principal Database Administrator with strong expertise in Snowflake, Azure SQL, and On-Premises SQL Server. The role will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, security, availability, disaster recovery, automation, and production support.
*Key Responsibilities*
Manage and administer Snowflake environments, including databases, warehouses, schemas, and roles.
Implement RBAC, security, access controls, data masking, and auditing.
Optimize Snowflake performance and cloud costs/credit consumption.
Administer Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance and on-premises SQL Server.
Manage backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Monitor database performance, capacity, availability, and alerts.
Automate administration and deployments using Python, PowerShell, Terraform, and CI/CD.
Troubleshoot critical production issues and participate in incident response/on-call support.
Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
Work with Data Engineering, Security, Architecture, and Application teams.
Mentor engineers and serve as the escalation point for complex database issues.
*Required Skills*
8+ years of database administration experience.
3+ years of hands-on Snowflake production experience.
Strong Snowflake performance tuning and cost optimization experience.
Excellent SQL and SQL Server administration skills.
Experience with Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance.
Strong knowledge of RBAC, database security, HA/DR, backup and recovery.
Experience with Python, PowerShell, Terraform, or similar automation tools.
Familiarity with CI/CD and source-controlled database deployments.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
*Preferred*
SnowPro Advanced Administrator/Architect certification.
Microsoft Azure Database Administrator certification.
Experience with Databricks, Airflow, Terraform, AI/ML platforms, or modern cloud data platforms.
Experience leading database migrations or major version upgrades.
Experience supporting US-based stakeholders.
