Job Description of a Clinical Psychologist in a Rehabilitation Centre
Area of Work Responsibilities
Psychological Assessment
Conduct clinical interviews, administer
psychological tests, evaluate cognitive,
emotional, and behavioral functioning.
Diagnosis
Identify mental health conditions such as
Depression, Schizophrenia, or Substance
Use Disorder.
Therapy & Counseling
Provide individual, group, and family
therapy using techniques like Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical
Behavior Therapy.
Rehabilitation Planning Develop personalized rehabilitation plans
and set recovery goals for patients.
Behavioral Management
Manage behavioral problems, emotional
distress, addiction issues, and motivation
difficulties.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Work with psychiatrists, physiotherapists,
occupational therapists, and social workers
for holistic care.
Family Guidance
1) Provide regular clinical updates to
families through phone calls.
2) Assist in organizing and managing
family visits
Progress Monitoring
Track patient progress, evaluate treatment
outcomes, and modify therapy plans when
necessary.
Documentation and Records
1) Supervise completion of admission
files.
2) Send required emails and
documentation to MHRB, including
capacity assessment forms.
3) Ensure proper documentation of
clinical files, therapy notes, rating
scales, and assessments.
4) Maintain and supervise the
Admission and Discharge Register
with daily verification.
5) Submit the updated register to Dr.
Jaideep Patil every Friday.
Community Reintegration
Help patients develop coping skills and
reintegrate into work, education, and social
life.
Daily Clinical Duties
1) 1) Conduct OPD referrals for psychological
testing and therapy (currently Wednesday
and Saturday, subject to change).
2) 2) Prepare and finalize psychological testing
reports.
3) 3) Conduct bedside clinical rounds (morning
and evening).
4) Provide daily clinical updates and reporting
to Dr. Jaideep Patil.
5) 4) Take patient history from guardians
during admission and document it
appropriately.
Staff and Institutional Responsibilities
6) 1) Supervise psychology interns and review
internship documentation and certificates.
7) 2) Provide training sessions for staff
members on psychological care and patient
management.
8) 3) Assist in staff recruitment interviews
when required.
9) 4) Participate in staff meetings and support
conflict resolution among staff members.)
Patient Activities and Rehabilitation
Plan and organize recreational and
therapeutic activities for patients (e.g.,
group activities, snacks, etc.) at least twice
a month.
Day Care Services Maintain documentation and records for
day care patients.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
1) Daily checking and updating of
Admission and Discharge registers.
2) Support administrative and clinical
functions of the rehabilitation
centre as required.
