QA Engineer role focused on Windows MDM testing, including end-to-end testing, OS-level troubleshooting, policy validation (GPO/CSP) and defect management. Requires strong Windows OS, PowerShell, Active Directory, Event Viewer/Registry, and Windows security/tools knowledge.
ProMobi Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented QA Engineer to join our Mobile Device Management (MDM) team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and security of our MDM solutions targeted at Windows Operating Systems. You will dive deep into OS-level behaviors, test policy enforcement, and troubleshoot complex device management scenarios.
- End-to-End Testing: Design, write, and execute comprehensive test cases tailored to Windows device management, configuration, and security policies.
- OS-Level Troubleshooting: Monitor and analyze how the Windows OS reacts to different MDM payloads, tracking processes, services, and system states.
- System Diagnostics: Utilize built-in Windows tools such as Event Viewer and Registry Editor (RegEdit) to validate configurations, trace errors, and debug system behaviors.
- Automation & Scripting: Leverage PowerShell scripting to automate test scenarios, deploy configurations, and gather OS-level telemetry during testing cycles.
- Environment Simulation: Test scenarios across different domain environments, including Standalone, Domain Joined (Active Directory), and Azure AD Joined setups.
- Policy Validation: Validate the application and translation of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and MDM-backed Configuration Service Providers (CSPs).
- Defect Tracking: Proactively identify edge cases, log detailed defects, and collaborate closely with the development team to ensure timely resolutions.
- Experience: 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in Software Quality Assurance and Testing.
- Windows OS Mastery: Strong foundational knowledge of Windows OS architecture. You should understand how background processes run, how services interact, and how the OS behaves under various constraints.
- Diagnostic Tools: Excellent practical knowledge of Event Viewer, Registry Editor, Task Manager, and Performance Monitor.
- Scripting Skills: Proficiency in PowerShell for task automation, querying system states, and script-based testing.
- Network & Identity: Solid understanding of Active Directory, the mechanics of a Domain-Joined machine, and user authentication flows.
- Policy Management: Understanding of Windows GPO (Group Policy Objects) and how policies enforce system restrictions and settings.
- Windows Server (Nice to have): Basic to intermediate knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory setup, and server-client interactions.
- Native Windows tools: Basic to intermediate knowledge of Windows Bitlocker, Windows Defender, Windows OS Updates etc.
- Problem-Solving Prowess: Ability to think critically and isolate the root cause of an issue within a complex OS ecosystem rather than just reporting the symptom.
- Proactiveness: A self-starter mentality. You don’t just wait for test plans; you actively hunt for edge cases, anticipate potential breakage points, and suggest improvements.
- Curiosity: A deep desire to understand why the Windows OS reacts the way it does to specific MDM commands or environmental changes.
- Communication: Clear and concise communication skills for writing reproducible bug reports and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
