ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced MEP BIM Coordinator with a strong specialization in electrical substation projects. The ideal candidate must be capable of independently leading BIM coordination activities, managing a team of modelers, and delivering high-quality BIM outputs in line with international and client-specific standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage BIM coordination for substation projects end-to-end
- Develop and maintain overall equipment layout drawings and 3D models for substation environments
- Manage and execute bulk drawing submissions and ensure timely deliverables to clients
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Civil, Structural, Electrical) for clash detection and resolution• Ensure all BIM deliverables comply with DEWA BIM Standards and project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEP)
- Attend and lead client coordination meetings and project progress reviews• Manage and mentor a team of junior BIM modelers and draftsmen
- Prepare and maintain BIM coordination reports, RFIs, and technical submittals
- Ensure COBie data standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle
- Liaise directly with clients, consultants, and contractors on BIM-related matters
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical Engineering — preferred
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering with strong relevant experience may be considered
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in MEP BIM coordination
- Proven experience on substation projects (132kV / 11kV) is mandatory
- Prior experience working on UAE / GCC projects or with Gulf-based clients is a strong advantage
- Experience dealing directly with DEWA or similar UAE utility authorities is highly desirable
TECHNICAL SKILLS — MANDATORY
- Autodesk Revit MEP — Advanced proficiency
- Autodesk Navisworks Manage — Clash detection and coordination
- AutoCAD (2D & 3D) — Proficient
- DEWA BIM Standards — Thorough knowledge and prior application
- BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud — Experience preferred
- MS Office Suite — Proficient
- COBie Standards — Data structuring and asset information management
SOFT SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to conduct and lead progress meetings confidently
- Proactive problem-solving approach
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and quality consciousness
PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Currently based in Chennai or willing to relocate to Chennai
- Candidates with Gulf project experience currently based in India are highly preferred
- Immediate to 30-day joiners preferred
