We are an innovative, human-centric hardware startup dedicated to developing cutting-edge assistive medical technologies and embedded intelligence systems. Our flagship project is an advanced bio-robotic soft rehabilitation glove designed to restore hand mobility and upper-limb function for stroke survivors and individuals with neuromotor impairments.
We are building a highly capable, interdisciplinary core team to transition this laboratory breakthrough into a clinically effective, market-scalable product. If you are passionate about soft robotics, biomechanics, and creating real-world social impact through engineering, this is the place for you.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Mechanical/Robotics Engineering Intern to join our hardware team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between material compliance and fluid dynamics. Unlike traditional rigid-jointed robotics, you will focus heavily on designing flexible structures that utilize material deformation to perfectly mirror human hand kinematics, creating a safe and comfortable wearable medical device.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Actuator Design & Optimization: Design and iterate the geometric architecture of soft pneumatic network (PneuNet) actuators to achieve precise, repeatable bending forces that match natural human finger joints.
CAD Modeling & Mold Making: Create detailed 3D models of actuators, ergonomic hand chassis components, and multi-part split molds for elastomer casting using SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
Advanced Simulation (FEA): Perform non-linear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in ANSYS, Abaqus, or COMSOL using hyperelastic material models to predict structural deformation, expansion behavior, and stress concentration points under pressure.
Pneumatic System Integration: Source, assemble, and test miniaturized fluid power hardware, including micro-diaphragm pumps, solenoid valves, manifolds, and electronic pressure regulators.
Rapid Prototyping: Utilize FDM/SLA 3D printing techniques (working with flexible filaments like TPU and rigid materials) to fabricate enclosures, structural backings, and test fixtures for rapid design validation.
Testing & Data Validation: Conduct structural integrity, leak detection, and cyclic fatigue testing on soft actuators to ensure product safety, durability, and reliable force output.
