Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead our pharmaceutical operations in African countries. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategic business plans to drive revenue growth, market share, and profitability, with a strong focus on diabetes and cardiovascular (CVS) therapeutic segments. This role demands a hands-on leader with deep market knowledge, regulatory experience, and a proven track record in managing teams, partnerships, and commercial operations in the African pharmaceutical landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement country-level business strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
- Identify new market opportunities, particularly in diabetes and cardiovascular segments.
- Sales & Marketing
- Oversee sales operations and ensure achievement of revenue and profitability targets.
- Lead the launch and promotion of key products, especially in diabetes and cardiac care.
- Build brand awareness and execute marketing campaigns in collaboration with regional marketing teams.
- Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure all products comply with local regulations and manage relationships with health authorities.
- Oversee regulatory submissions, product registrations, and pharmacovigilance processes.
- Team Management
- Recruit, train, and manage high-performing local teams including sales, regulatory, and support staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and ethical conduct.
- Business Development & Partnerships
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including KOLs, distributors, healthcare professionals, and government bodies.
- Explore and evaluate local business partnerships, licensing, or distribution opportunities.
- Operations & Finance
- Manage P&L for the country operations and ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and pricing strategies.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10 - 13 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or Business. MBA or equivalent preferred.
- Strong exposure to diabetic and cardiovascular therapeutic areas.
- Proven track record in launching and growing pharma products in African markets.
- Experience in handling regulatory frameworks, distribution networks, and public/private healthcare sectors.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Local market experience in Africa is highly desirable.
