Job Summary
The Metrologist is responsible for inspecting and measuring precision gear cutting tools such as hobs, broaches, gear shaper cutters, shaving cutters, and special cutting tools using advanced metrology equipment. The role ensures that all products meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform dimensional inspection of gear cutting tools using precision measuring instruments.
Operate metrology equipment such as CMM, Gear Measuring Machine (GMM), Tool Measuring Machine, Profile Projector, Height Gauge, Micrometers, Bore Gauges, and Dial Indicators.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection standards.
Verify tool profiles, lead, pitch, runout, concentricity, and tooth geometry.
Prepare inspection reports and maintain calibration and measurement records.
Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
Support production teams in resolving dimensional and quality issues.
Ensure measuring instruments are calibrated and maintained.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality deviations.
Follow ISO 9001 and company quality procedures.
Required Qualifications
Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
2–5 years of experience in metrology or quality inspection in the gear cutting tools or precision engineering industry.
Required Skills
Knowledge of gear cutting tools (Hobs, Broaches, Shaper Cutters, Shaving Cutters).
Proficiency in CMM/GMM or other precision measuring equipment.
Good understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with ISO quality systems.
Preferred
Experience with Zeiss, Klingelnberg, Gleason, or similar metrology systems.
Knowledge of SPC and MSA is an added advantage.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
