An Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) is a frontline health worker, mainly responsible for providing basic healthcare services, especially in rural and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide maternal and child healthcare services
- Conduct antenatal (before birth) and postnatal (after birth) care
- Assist in normal deliveries (in some settings)
- Promote family planning and reproductive health services
- Administer immunizations/vaccinations
- Maintain health records and reports
- Educate the community on:
- Hygiene and sanitation
- Nutrition
- Disease prevention
- Identify and refer high-risk pregnancies or serious cases to hospitals
- Participate in national health programs (e.g., TB, malaria, polio campaigns)
Work Environment
- Primary Health Centres (PHCs)
- Sub-centres in villages
- Community health settings
- Occasionally conduct home visits
Qualifications Required
- Completion of ANM training course (usually 2 years)
- Registration with the State Nursing Council
Pay: ₹8,000.00 - ₹12,000.00 per month
