Job Title: Basketball Coach
Department: Sports Department / Physical Education
Reports To: Director of Sports / Principal
Job Summary
The Basketball Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting basketball training sessions while developing the technical, physical, and mental abilities of student-athletes. The coach will foster teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and represent the institution in inter-college, university, and other competitive tournaments. (Brighter Horizons Academy)
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct regular basketball practice sessions.
- Teach basketball fundamentals, techniques, strategies, and game rules.
- Select, train, and mentor players for competitions and tournaments.
- Prepare practice schedules, match strategies, and player development plans.
- Organize team selection trials and evaluate player performance.
- Ensure the physical fitness, discipline, and well-being of all players.
- Motivate students to participate in basketball and promote sportsmanship.
- Coordinate with the Sports Department for tournaments, events, and training camps.
- Maintain basketball equipment, uniforms, and sports facilities.
- Keep records of attendance, player progress, and match results.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and safety guidelines during practices and competitions.
- Represent the institution in inter-college, state, and national-level tournaments. (Brighter Horizons Academy)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or equivalent.
- Master's degree (M.P.Ed.) preferred.
- Certification in Basketball Coaching from a recognized sports authority is desirable.
- Experience as a Basketball Coach in a school, college, university, or sports academy is preferred.
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and strategies.
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, and motivational skills.
- Leadership and team management abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize sports events and tournaments.
- First Aid/CPR certification will be an added advantage.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Experience
- 1–3 years of coaching experience preferred.
- Fresh candidates with relevant qualifications and excellent basketball achievements may also apply.
Working Hours
- As per institutional schedule, with flexibility to conduct early morning/evening practice sessions and accompany teams during tournaments.
Salary
- Negotiable, based on qualifications and experience.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,230.33 per month
