Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to manage financial operations for our FMCG distribution business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting, inventory reconciliations, vendor/customer account management, statutory compliance, and supporting the financial health of the organization.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate day-to-day books of accounts in Tally/ERP or other accounting software.
- Record purchase, sales, debit/credit notes, and returns related to FMCG distribution.
- Ensure timely posting of payments, receipts, and journal entries.
- Handle cash, bank reconciliation, and petty cash management.
Receivables & Payables Management
- Prepare and monitor outstanding receivables and payables statements.
- Reconcile accounts with retailers, wholesalers, and FMCG principals.
- Follow up with customers for timely payments and ensure credit policy compliance.
- Manage supplier/vendor payments as per due dates and agreements.
Inventory & Distribution Accounting
- Reconcile stock ledgers with warehouse inventory on a daily/monthly basis.
- Track stock inflow (from FMCG principals) and outflow (to customers/distributors).
- Handle claims, schemes, discounts, and promotional expenses related to FMCG distribution.
- Ensure accuracy of stock valuation and wastage/expiry accounting.
Statutory & Compliance
- Prepare and file GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, reconciliation, etc.) on time.
- Handle TDS, TCS, and other statutory compliances.
- Ensure proper documentation for audits, assessments, and company filings.
- Assist in statutory, internal, and external audits with required schedules and reports.
Reporting & MIS
- Generate sales, collection, and outstanding MIS reports for management.
- Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Support management with analytical reports (customer-wise sales, scheme utilization, margin analysis, etc.).
- Coordinate with sales & operations teams for financial planning and reporting.
Other Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
- Safeguard company assets and monitor for financial discrepancies.
- Liaise with banks for reconciliations, limits, and financial transactions.
- Support management in financial planning, budgeting, and cost control initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
- 2–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in FMCG distribution or trading.
- Proficiency in Tally ERP/Busy/Zoho Books or similar accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, and other taxation rules.
- Excellent MS Excel and reporting skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical ability.
- Good communication and coordination skills with sales & operations teams.
