We are looking for an experienced Tool Room Manager / Deputy Manager to oversee tool design, manufacturing, maintenance, and operational management of the tool room. The candidate will ensure the availability of high-quality tooling to support uninterrupted production while maintaining safety, efficiency, and cost optimization.
- Develop and implement best-practice tool room strategies, policies, processes and procedures to improve operational performance.
- Supervise and manage tool room activities and toolmakers ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
- Ensure on-time availability of tools to support production and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Provide technical expertise in tool design, manufacturing and cost estimation.
- Direct and approve tool designs and construction plans.
- Monitor tool construction progress and verify compliance with mold and tooling standards.
- Review new tooling releases to ensure conformance to documented tooling standards.
- Support manufacturing teams in resolving tooling related issues such as high scrap rates or production inefficiencies.
- Plan and coordinate with product design, machine shop, subcontractors, tool assembly and quality assurance teams for on-time tool launches.
- Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of molds and tools.
- Maintain proper organization of stock items, tool inserts and spare parts.
- Coordinate with management and marketing departments for tool development, validation, testing and new tool trials.
- Prepare quotations for new tooling, modifications and repair work.
- Attend meetings and communicate instructions and updates effectively.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for tooling issues.
- Develop and manage KPIs for tool room performance.
- Develop work order systems to document tool history and maintenance records.
- Implement robust processes for new tooling to achieve high quality and efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of mold design, tool manufacturing and maintenance.
- Experience in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of tooling systems.
- Leadership and team management capabilities.
