- Location: Taloja MIDC, Navi Mumbai
- Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Reporting To: QC Head / Plant Head
- Experience Level: 1–3 years in manufacturing, machine shops, or surface engineering/coating environments
Key Responsibilities1. In-Process & Coating Inspection
- Pre-Spray Assessment: Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming substrate components before processing. Verify surface preparation metrics (e.g., grit blasting profile, surface roughness, and absolute cleanliness) before the plasma spray application.
- In-Process Monitoring: Ensure that thermal spray operational parameters match the approved Quality Assurance Plan (QAP).
- Post-Coating Inspection: Conduct rigorous visual checks for surface defects such as micro-cracks, peeling, overspray, and uneven layers.
- Thickness Verification: Measure finished coating thickness using specialized non-destructive testing (NDT) gauges (magnetic, eddy-current) and precision micrometers.
2. Metallurgical Laboratory Support
- Sample Preparation: Assist the lab team in preparing metallographic test coupons (cutting, mounting, and polishing samples).
- Microstructure Analysis: Conduct basic porosity analysis, microstructure evaluation, and micro-hardness testing under the guidance of the QC Head.
- Adhesion Testing: Perform bond strength and destructive/non-destructive adhesion testing on sample coupons to validate run parameters.
3. Documentation, QMS & Traceability
- Log Management: Accurately record inspection results in daily quality logs, route sheets, and material test certificates (MTC).
- Non-Conformance (NCR): Isolate, log, and tag Non-Conforming Products. Raise flags for necessary rework and track the completion of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Traceability: Maintain airtight material and process traceability for high-stakes batches destined for aerospace, automotive, or heavy industrial clients.
4. Instrument Calibration & Safety
- Tool Calibration: Perform daily verification and calibration routines on precision measuring instruments (Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and profile meters).
- Safety Adherence: Strictly follow plant safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) mandatory for thermal and plasma spray environments.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: ITI, Diploma, or B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Production Engineering.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on quality control experience in a thermal spray (Plasma, HVOF, Wire Arc), surface coating, welding, or precision heavy engineering facility.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, industrial blueprints, and welding/coating symbols.
- Expertise with micrometers, Vernier calipers, surface roughness testers, and coating thickness gauges.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems like ISO 9001 (knowledge of AS9100 for aerospace or IATF 16949 is a massive plus).
- Preferred Certifications: ASNT Level II in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods like Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) or Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT).
Key Soft Skills
- Extreme Attention to Detail: An exceptional eye for microstructural anomalies or minor surface variations.
- Uncompromising Integrity: A quality-first mindset with the professional confidence to halt production or reject parts failing to meet customer specifications.
- Clear Communication: Effective written and verbal skills to accurately convey defect reports to production supervisors and operators.
- Benefits: PF (Provident Fund), ESIC/Health Insurance coverage, paid time off, and continuous upskilling opportunities in advanced metallurgical lab testing.
